
At least nine members of the church from at least five different households have tested positive for COVID-19.
The first symptoms showed up as early as Aug. 6. In-person services at the church have been suspended since last Thursday.
Officials are using contact tracing to identify others they believe may have been infected.
In Philadelphia, religious services of up to 25 people are allowed under the city’s modified “green phase.” However, attendees and staff are required to wear masks, no group singing is allowed, and people are required to stay at least 6 feet apart from one another.
A statement from the church said leaders took “extreme measures to protect the health of those who worship,” including using a disinfection sprayer to sanitize furniture in between services.
