Several Penn Medicine employees test positive for coronavirus

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Several employees at Penn Medicine have tested positive for the coronavirus.

A spokesperson did not give a number or specify where those staff members work. Penn Medicine employs nearly 40,000 people. 

The health care network operates six hospitals and many more outpatient facilities in the region, and it's unclear how many patients or visitors were exposed.The spokesperson says they are uniquely well-prepared to quickly take the necessary steps to ensure the safety and protection of patients and staff during this fast-moving and challenging time.Penn Medicine is now working to contact anyone who came in contact with the people who tested positive. Those employees are currently quarantined at home.NBC 10 obtained a letter that says staff members will have their temperatures taken at the entrance before they report to work and that policy will be implemented by the end of the week.
