In addition to wearing masks at all times while on campus and social distancing, the school has some other new procedures in place, such as temperature checks when you arrive on campus.
“Curfew hours now, once you leave campus you can't come back past 11. Classes are more spaced out. Less students in a class,” he described.
At Villanova University, the campus has a new social distancing look and the thousands of students have some new social distancing tools.
Senior Jack Crawford is back on campus, adjusting to the new normal.
“These big massive pavilion type tents that you can go and bring your portable chair and set up and basically spread out as a class,” he explained.
Crawford said he's cautiously optimistic about finishing his senior year on campus.
“At any moment the school could be saying, we're sorry but we have to send you home, so it's sort of bittersweet because it's fantastic to be here but at the same time, I haven't broken down any of my boxes and I know that every day that I'm here could be the last day that I'm here,” he said.
At Temple University, students coming back to campus have to pass a COVID-19 test before they ever enter the classroom.
Incoming fresh-year student Emmanuel Herrera moved into his dorm Monday and admitted he had some second thoughts about leaving home for the first time and being on campus during a pandemic.
“It's crazy. I was thinking about not coming, but I have to,” Herrera said.
The freshman from Hazelton, Pennsylvania said the school has a mask policy for students on campus, and he's also polishing up on some of their other social distancing guidelines.
“I know we can't go into each other's dorm buildings, so people from this dorm can't go into another one, so you have to minimize the social gatherings,” he added.
In addition to taking that free move-in COVID test that produces results within 72 hours, next month, the university will start testing symptomatic and asymptomatic students and faculty every week to help spot groups of positive cases on campus.
