The Digital Academy is part of Superintendent William Hite’s hybrid coronavirus back-to-school plan. Hite told parents on Facebook Live the district would ensure that students will be 6 feet apart when they’re in schools two days a week.
“We’re actually going to prep all classrooms. And if we can only get eight children in a class and maintain 6-foot distancing, that’s all the children that can be in that class,” he said.
Teacher and parent Zoe Rooney, though, in an interview, questioned whether social distancing was possible.
“I also don’t think it’s physically feasible given the amount of space we have, the amount of staffing we have and the amount of students who are typically in that class to make any of it happen,” she said.
Hite presents his plan to the school board Thursday.
