Community cooperation in Upper Dublin helps walkers, runners keep social distance

UPPER DUBLIN TWP., PA (KYW Newsradio) — People need fresh air and exercise, but they still need to maintain social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic. That’s not easy when people are walking in different directions at the local track.

Some residents of Upper Dublin Township spoke up about the problem, and leaders listened.

Derek Dureka, parks and recreation director in Upper Dublin, Montgomery County, says residents reached out to say making the track one-way would make it easier to avoid other walkers, because there would be no need to pass.

He says the instructions are not mandatory, but they are being followed, with runners veering off the path to give walkers a wide berth.
