"There's a severe shortfall for election preparedness for Nov. 3 across the country," said Joe Petrucci, the Pennsylvania state director for Business for America.
"Masks are in high demand, hand sanitizer, other office supplies like tape to mark the floor as to where people need to stand in line, and pens. We need gloves, paper towels and lots of pens so that voters can have their own pen when they sign in."
Petrucci said they are also asking businesses to allow employees to pick up the slack from older election officials who are high risk.
"We need younger poll workers to step up and fill those needs," he said.
Petrucci says BFA is partnering with the Department of State and PEMA to assess the needs in individual counties to determine where to send goods. So far, he said businesses have volunteered to do matching fundraisers. Others, like Sweetgreen, have offered to provide meals to poll workers.
