March 18, 2019 Philadelphia Water Department spokesman John DiGiulio says sometime between 3 and 4 a.m. an 8-inch main broke at East Godfrey and Newtown avenues.
"I’m seeing water shooting out of the ground, hitting the electrical wires. This is awesome," said Bob, who lives on the block where the break happened.
After a few hours, crews had to shut off the water to make the geyser stop. That also meant 60 homes lost water service.

March 18, 2019 The good news is the water didn’t really build up too much, so besides a little bit of mud by the site of the break, the cars parked on the street and the homes are just fine.
