A toddler apparently told police that another child accidentally shot the 6-year-old in the chest. Police previously said the gun wasn’t properly secured in the home.
Detectives scoured the neighborhood for cameras and found one video of people running from the home on Kendrick Street near Torresdale Avenue, where the incident occurred on July 5.
McLaughlin rushed the boy to the hospital, but not in time to save him. He later died.
Eventually, officers went through the house — but the gun was gone, sources said.
Now, detectives want to speak with two men who were also inside the home.
Detectives interviewed McLaughlin, but they say she didn’t give them a full story. As a result, McLaughlin has been charged with conspiracy, unsworn falsification to authorities, and tampering with evidence. She remains behind bars.
During the course of that weekend, at least 30 people were shot all across Philadelphia, and seven died.
