The Eagles kick off the official start of the season Sunday at home against the Washington Redskins, so the entire city will be offering plenty of activities for you to bleed green.
But for the sports-averse Philadelphians, don't despair. It's still summertime in Philly, which means you can pick from your choice of festivals, arts events and more.

DETAILS: Independent publisher and bookstore The Head and The Hand and printing service Fireball team up to host a night of books, art, food and drinks. Fireball is hosting its own "A Night of Micro Tomes and Sequential Salami" with 25 artists showcasing their zines, comics and books.

DETAILS: The festival joins two other events focused around the Delaware River. Historically, they were known as Pennsylvania Coast Day amd Camden’s River Day. There will be live music, bike riding, face painting, yacht rides, free rentals on swan boats and kayaks, and more.

EVENT: Greenfest Philly

EVENT: Fringe Festival begins

DETAILS: The three-week long festival celebrates “innovation and creativity in contemporary performance.” There will be more than 1,000 live performances by national and international artists. The party continues every night, with music, food and drink at the FringeArts center on the Delaware River waterfront.

EVENT: Brazilian Day 2019

WHERE: Penn’s Landing, Great Plaza, Philadelphia
DETAILS: This is an outdoor festival celebrating the Brazilian Independence Day. There will be food and drinks to try like Brazil’s national cocktail caipirinha. There will be a DJ as well as live samba and samba reggae music. You will be able to watch capoeira, a martial arts practice that was developed in Brazil. It is all part of of the PECO Multicultural Series.

The event is a benefit for the Fight On Makenna Foundation, which works to improve the quality of life of pediatric cancer patients and their families during inpatient and outpatient treatments.
