PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As we continuously adapt to whatever 2020 throws at us, there's still fun to be had with family and friends in and around Philadelphia.
Scroll below for a list of things to do this weekend — from a safe and social distance, of course.
ON-SITE FESTIVITIES
Hey, City of Brother Love: Check out the Sisterly Love Food Fair. Female business and restaurant owners hit hard by the pandemic are coming together for a series of traveling pop-ups, with food, jewelry, art, home goods, and more. On Saturday, head to Jezebel's Argentine Cafe in West Philly or Triple Bottom Brewing on Spring Garden Street on Sunday to support this vibrant community.
Each Friday this month, the city wants you to partake in Shop Black Business Friday. Shop at more than 130 Black- and brown-owned businesses in the greater Philadelphia area, and check out Visit Philly for a way to win $500 to support these businesses.
Then, drive over to the Navy Yard for a drive-in movie. From the holiday tales of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" to premieres of "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" starring Viola Davis and the late Chadwick Boseman, there's something for everyone on this silver screen.
Additionally, the seven wineries of the Bucks County Wine Trail are having their first annual Light Up the Vines holiday illumination. Bring a blanket and snag a spot by a fire pit for wines and small bites. The lights grace the trails beginning at 5 p.m.
VIRTUAL FESTIVITIES
Sea-lebrate the holiday season with the Independence Seaport Museum during its Virtual Parade of Lights on Saturday. Enjoy fun at-home holiday activities, like cocktail and mocktail recipes, and of course, check out the boats decked out in their holiday finest floating down the Delaware River.
Experience the magic of "The Hip Hop Nutcracker" from the comfort of your home. A wonderful holiday mashup of all-star dancers, a DJ, a violinist, and MC Kurtis Blow, one of hip hop's founding fathers, give homage to the original with a new spin. Secure online general admission or VIP tickets for fun with the whole fam.
