'I miss my baby girl and Kob-Kob so much,' Vanessa Bryant remembers Kobe, Gianna

It seems unimaginable to lose a child and a spouse at the same time. On the one-year anniversary of the death of her husband Kobe and their daughter Gianna, Vanessa Bryant remembers them both.

Kobe and Gianna Bryant, with seven others, died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on January 26, 2020.

In remembrance of her family, Vanessa turned to Instagram to post a letter she received from Gianna’s best friend, Aubrey Callaghan.

“Thank you so much for beautifully sharing some of your memories of my Gigi with me and allowing me to share them here on my ig,” Vanessa writes. “I miss my baby girl and Kob-Kob so much, too.”

Vanessa goes on to ask the question all parents and spouses must ask when someone they love is ripped from their lives too soon.

"♥️I will never understand why/how this tragedy could’ve happened to such beautiful, kind and amazing human beings. It still doesn’t seem real."

Callaghan told Bryant that Gianna was "fiery" and "stubborn" and "generous."

"There are times I get into a pit of despair thinking about her and what she could’ve accomplished had she had a couple more years. But recently I have been thinking about the mark she did leave on this earth. Her fights for equality in sports made the world reconsider their opinions, she along with Mr. Bryant, set the wheels in motion," Callaghan writes.

Vanessa ends her Instagram post with a note to her husband.

“Kob, we did it right. Gigi, you still make mommy proud. I love you!”
