PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Sunday will be the day the Eagles will take the field with a new starting quarterback.
Jalen Hurts dreamed about what it would be like to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. The rookie will get his first chance on Sunday when the Eagles take on the New Orleans Saints at Lincoln Financial Field.
"As a kid, you grow up and you dream of opportunities like this," said Hurts. "Like I always am, my head's down and I'm working, and I'm attacking it."
Head coach Doug Pederson is hoping Hurts will continue to provide a spark for the offense and says the rest of the team has rallied around their new starting quarterback.
"The team has responded well," reported Pederson. "They've embraced this change, this opportunity for him, and that's what good teammates will do, right? They’ll support the guy that's in there, and they're supporting him and doing a great job there."
Pederson said he is taking the situation week by week and wouldn't rule out the chance for Carson Wentz to play again before the end of the season.
