PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Phillies have done it! On Saturday night, the Phils prevented Game 3 of their Wild Card Series against the St. Louis Cardinals with a second straight win, securing their spot in the NLDS.

Bryce Harper put the Phils on top with a no-doubt blast over the right field wall in the second inning off of Miles Mikolas, his first home run since Sept. 24 and one of his best looking swings since returning from the IL.

The night’s second run came from a sac fly by Kyle Schwarber in the fifth, scoring Alec Bohm from third, bringing the score to 2-0.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, the Cardinals rallied, starting with a single by Corey Dickerson off of Phillies pitcher Zach Eflin. Yadier Molina advanced Dickerson to third with another single. Then, with runners on first and third for the Cardinals, Tommy Edman popped out to third to end the game (and our collective anxiety), sending the Phillies to the NLDS.

The Phillies will face off against the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of the NLDS on October 11, 2022, which gives Philadelphia three whole days to soak up the win.
