PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia 76ers CEO Scott O'Neil has decided to leave Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment — the company that owns the Sixers — to pursue new opportunities.
O'Neil has been with the Sixers for eight years, from the early stages of the Sam Hinkie Process through the team's latest attempt at a championship.
In his statement, O'Neil thanked Sixers managing partners Josh Harris and David Blitzer, both of whom were very complimentary of O'Neil in their statements.
As the HBSE CEO, O'Neil also helped run the New Jersey Devils of the NHL.
No successor has been named at this time.
