1 dead, 7 injured in 2 separate Philadelphia shootings

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia Police were searching Thursday for the men who killed one person and injured at least seven others in separate shootings late Wednesday and early Thursday.

Police said it was right before 10 p.m. when two men began shooting at people playing a dice game in front of Bananas Bar and Lounge on Rising Sun Avenue in the Olney neighborhood.

"I was on the phone with my niece, and I heard a 'pop pop pop' and I thought it was firecrackers, and I was like, 'Oh my God,'" a witness who lives across the street said.

The shooting claimed the life of a 46-year-old man and sent four others to the hospital.

Police said after the shooting, one of the suspects carjacked a woman who was waiting for food from a nearby restaurant.

According to investigators, the vehicle was located at the intersection of North Water Street and East Fisher Avenue.
