
TURNERSVILLE, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A 10-year-old boy is dead after being shot inside of a Washington Township, Gloucester County home, according to authorities.
Police say it happened around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at a home near the intersection of Georgetown Road and Westminster Boulevard, close to Birches Elementary School, which the boy attended.
Authorities found the child with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Washington Township Police Department and Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office are heading the investigation into the boy's death.
Washington Township School District officials say counseling and support services are being coordinated for Birches students, faculty and parents.
