PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 16-year-old is fighting for her life after being shot in the chest at a social media party in North Philadelphia Saturday.
Officials say a group was gathered for an Instagram party at 11th and Cumberland streets near Fotterall Square around 3:30 a.m. An argument over a speaker ensued and two men got into an altercation.
That's when officials say one of the men fired shots down the block and around the corner. Bullets struck seven people — including the 16-year-old girl — in the legs, arms, and back. The teen remains critical. The other victims, ranging in age from 20 to 30, are expected to recover.
Officials say more than 50 shots were fired. Crime scene detectives are still working on the ballistics to figure out how many guns were used.
Detectives are interviewing anyone who was at the party and scouring the area for surveillance video.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Shooting Investigations Unit at 215-686-8270.
