PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An 18-year-old was shot in an alleyway in Northeast Philadelphia Saturday.

Officials say just after midnight three men came to the 18-year-old’s house on 14th and Benner streets in Oxford Circle while he was not home and kicked in his back door. Two of the men entered, then stepped back into the alleyway just as the 18-year-old was coming back.

That’s when police say one of the suspects opened fire, striking him in the stomach, then ran off with another suspect. The third suspect left the property and followed them.

Police say the 18-year-old’s mother took him to a hospital. There, he was stabilized and transferred to a different hospital for further treatment.

The incident is being investigated as a possible interrupted burglary. Anyone with information is asked to call 215-686-8477.
