WEST CHESTER, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Three people charged with shooting at a school bus in Coatesville last fall as part of an ongoing high school feud made brief court appearances on Friday.
Gabriel Johnson, 17; Jaki White-Marshall, 18; and Jose Medina, 20, each face hundreds of charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy, and dozens of counts of aggravated assault. Johnson was charged as an adult.
Prosecutors say Johnson, White-Marshall and Medina are three of the four males seen in video footage walking toward the school bus around 2:20 p.m. on Oct. 10, as it stopped on Hope Avenue at Charles Street.
They say Johnson admitted to being one of two people in the group who opened fire on the bus as part of an ongoing feud at the high school. The bus was hit by at least two bullets, including one that went through the windshield.
The driver and 27 students were on the bus, and three other students had just been dropped off. No one was hurt.
Johnson and Medina both waived their preliminary hearings and have formal arraignments scheduled for next month. White-Marshall was in court but asked for his preliminary hearing to be moved to April.
Police are still trying to identify the other gunman, but they say Medina admitted to being there. A car used in the getaway was traced back to White-Marshall, but his mother told police he only drove there because there was going to be a fight and that he wasn’t one of the shooters.
