PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two men are dead and another wounded after a series of shootings early Tuesday morning in Upper Macungie Township in Lehigh Valley.

Helicopter video from KYW Newsradio media partner NBC10 showed dozens of police officers and first responders at a Wawa on Route 100 and Schantz Road, and also at a building down the block.

Officers were called to the scene just before 5 a.m. Investigators believe the driver of a white Toyota Corolla — now identified as 45-year-old Za Uk Lian of South Whitehall Township — shot a woman in another car on Route 22 near or between the intersections of Route 309 and Cedar Crest Boulevard.

She was not hurt and didn't realize she had been shot at until she stopped at the Wawa for a sandwich and saw the bullet hole in her car, according to Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin.

Police say Lian coincidentally pulled into the Wawa parking lot. He was not following the woman. There, he shot the driver of a Jeep. That driver's injuries are not life-threatening and he is expected to be OK.

Lian then shot and killed a tractor-trailer driver who was pumping gas, now identified as 31-year-old Ramon Ramirez of Allentown.

A Wawa employee who was taking out trash during the incident ushered customers inside and locked the doors.

Lian fled on foot south on Route 100, about a quarter of a mile, then shot and killed himself, Martin said.

Upper Macungie Township police have no motive at this point and say the three shootings appear to have been indiscriminate and unrelated.

A state trooper was also examined at an area hospital after he was struck by a vehicle during the investigation. He is expected to be OK.

The homicide investigation is ongoing.
