WARRINGTON, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Three teenagers are dead, and one is extremely critical after a crash in Bucks County Friday night.
Warrington Township police say a Toyota Camry with four teenage boys inside was heading eastbound on Bristol Road, not far from Easton Road, around 9:30 p.m., when the driver of a Ford Explorer was going westbound. The driver of the Camry, a 15-year-old, then lost control of the vehicle while approaching a hill in the narrow roadway, causing the car to cross into oncoming traffic and hit the Ford Explorer.
"It appears that the Camry must have somehow either cut the steering wheel or lost control but ended up going sideways into the lane of the Explorer that was simply just driving down the road," said Daniel Friel, Chief of Police for the Warrington Township Police Department.
Police say the most severe damage was on the passenger side of the Camry. According to Friel, the fire crew had to extricate the teens — ages 14, 15, 16 and 18 — from the Camry. All were taken to a nearby hospital.
The 15, 16 and 18-year-olds died from injuries sustained in the crash. The 14-year-old needs surgery and remains extremely critical. The driver of the Explorer was not injured.
Police say two of the victims attended Neshaminy High School — one, a freshman, and the other, a senior. Police are talking with nearby school districts to provide counseling services come Monday.
“This is a heartbreaking and tragic situation. Our hearts and prayers are with the families and friends of those involved during this unimaginable time,” said Warrington Township police in a statement.
