CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Police have arrested and charged a fifth person in the home invasion and killing of a Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office detective.
Investigators say there were four men who forcibly entered Detective Sgt. Monica Mosley’s Bridgeton home on Oct. 15 around 10:30 p.m. When police arrived, they found Mosley suffering from a gunshot wound. She died at the scene.
Byron Thomas, 35, of Paulsboro was arrested this week and faces charges of first-degree murder and related offenses. He’s currently in custody, pending a detention hearing.
Court documents show another man, 29-year-old Nyshaw Mutcherson of Vineland, was shot in the chest by Mosley before she died. According to investigators, he lied to doctors at the hospital about how he was shot.
Authorities also say former Camden police officer Cyndia Pimentel, 38, is accused of helping the men discard or destroy evidence.
Jared Brown, 31, of Bridgeton, and Richard Willis, 32, of Gloucester City are facing charges of murder, burglary and related offenses.
