PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Phillies have some tough odds to overcome on Saturday night if they’re going to stay in the World Series — and 8-year-old Addie Auth will be cheering them on, as always. The Phils must beat the Astros in Game 6 — in Houston. But that’s OK. Addie knows a thing or two about beating the odds.
Three weeks after her fourth birthday, Addie was diagnosed with T cell lymphoblastic leukemia, says her mom, Bernadette.
”And, of course, that rocks your world in ways that you never thought was possible,” said Bernadette. “And you spend two and a half years in treatment, questioning every decision and consulting with doctors on how to raise her and what to do.”

However, because of those unthinkable two and a half years, Addie is now healthy and happy — and busy.
“I do karate, aerials, and hip hop,” she said.
Asked how she got — and stayed — so strong and so positive, she said, “Oh, my mama.”
Addie is one of the younger and more resilient fans cheering on her favorite team in this World Series. She says she’s been a fan for a long time — “Since I was a baby,” she said.

Addie and some of her friends from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society even made a video for the team to cheer them on to the championship. Their hope is that their message and optimism will get them the parade they — and all Phillies fans — are so looking forward to.
Asked how she got to be so strong and so positive, Addie said, “Oh, my mama.”
Addie says her favorite player is Bryce Harper. He has partnered with LLS in the past to host patients and survivors at Citizens Bank Park to give them a day to be kids without worrying about cancer. Addie says she wants him to know that she is returning the favor by watching and cheering him on.
“The Phillies are huge, because they never gave up!” Addie said. “And they make people happy. And the whole city is rooting for them to do good. Go Phillies!”
