PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police have arrested and charged a man wanted in connection to an infant who was abandoned at a Walmart Supercenter in the Northeast last week.

They say on Jan. 18, around 11:30 p.m., Alganon Muhammad, 22, entered the store with three others, including two adults and a three-month-old.

After leaving the checkout area, police say security suspected them of stealing. They attempted to stop them but the three adults ran out of the store, leaving the baby behind.

Police say the baby was unharmed and taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being taken to her mother.

Muhammad surrendered to police on Friday. He is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, retail theft, criminal conspiracy, and recklessly endangering another person.

Police are still searching for the other two suspects.
