PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Amtrak's Northeast Corridor service on Sunday was temporarily stopped south of Baltimore when concrete pieces from the underside of the rail bridge over North Point Road in that city fell onto a car, according to Baltimore authorities.

One woman was injured but police say she was able to walk out of her car when emergency personnel responded.

The incident prompted a mandatory inspection of the bridge.

Amtrak sent out an alert on social media channels around 4 p.m., after the bridge incident was cleared. Train service from Wilmington, Delaware, to BWI Airport has resumed service. And Amtrak advised passengers of residual delays throughout the system.

Officials say further inspections of the bridge are expected in the coming days.
