PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The snow that’s been on the ground for weeks in the Philadelphia region is finally starting to melt, but more snow could be in the forecast for this weekend.
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey said current models show that snowfall is likely on Sunday, but a lot could happen before then.
“There is still quite a bit of uncertainty as to exactly what is going to happen,” said Sarah Johnson, the warning coordination meteorologist for the NWS.
Johnson said there still isn’t a consensus on the amount of snow that will fall across the region, and the hope is that a clearer picture will be available on Friday or Saturday.
“Hopefully we start to see a little more agreement between the models,” she said.
Meteorologists will be watching to see if the system moves south or hugs the coast. The latter means the storm will have less of an impact on the Philadelphia region.
Rain is in the forecast for the Philadelphia area leading up to the weekend, but the Poconos and other areas north of the city could see some snow and freezing rain.
