PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The man who police say fired several times into a SEPTA bus earlier this month in Southwest Philadelphia, wounding three women on board, has been arrested by federal authorities.
U.S. Marshals Service Philadelphia, with members of the U.S. Marshals Delaware Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday, took 18-year-old Raphael Ezeamaka of Darby into custody at an apartment complex Middletown, Delaware.
He was wanted by Philadelphia police for the Oct. 8 shooting, which happened near 57th and Catharine streets in Philadelphia's Cobbs Creek neighborhood. Police say Ezeamaka exited the Route G bus, then turned around and fired four shots at the bus. Three women on board were hit.
Responding officers found a 29-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the hip, a 56-year-old woman with a wound to her back, and a 60-year-old woman with a graze wound to the head. All three are expected to physically recover.
An arrest warrant was issued about 10 days ago. Ezeamaka faces charges of aggravated assault and gun offenses. He remains in custody in Delaware and is expected to be extradited in the coming weeks.
