PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are investigating a suspicious death in West Philadelphia.

Authorities received a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. A man told police he hadn’t seen his friend in a few weeks. When he went to the home at 61st and Arch streets, he said he found a man’s badly decomposed body face down in the living room.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said they can’t tell how the man died.

“The body is decomposed, so it’s very difficult to determine just from looking at him if there’s any trauma to the body,” said Small. “The body is dressed normally. The house is in disarray, and there’s a lot of debris and a lot of clutter.”

The man told investigators he thinks the body is his 41-year-old friend, but it’s too decomposed to be sure.
