PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A new taco restaurant is opening this weekend in Bucks County.
Bomba Taco + Bar has set up shop in the Village at Newtown. It’s the fifth location overall and the second one in suburban Philadelphia.
While tacos are traditionally Mexican, these have more of an international flavor.
“Everything we put in the tacos is all over the place,” said Andy Himmel, CEO of Paladar Restaurant Group. “We have the Vietnamese meatball taco, the Korean beef taco, we have a Nashville hot chicken taco. So we’ve kind of opened it up completely to whatever direction we feel we want to go.”
He said the idea for Bomba came from the restaurant group’s other concept, Paladar Latin Kitchen and Rum Bar, when they expanded their menu to add a taco section.
“The success of them at Paladar, that’s what ultimately led to us then pulling those out,” said Himmel.
They’ve come up with lots of ways for people to order a variety of tacos, too.
“We have a taco 10 pack, so if six people are sitting down, each person can call off what tacos they want. We bring it out in this big tray,” he explained.
“We make everything fresh in-house, completely scratch-made, including the house margarita mix. Nothing is pre-packaged.”
