Boy, 16, killed in Frankford triple shooting

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 16-year-old boy was killed and two other men were injured in a triple shooting during rush hour in Northeast Philadelphia. A 20-year-old was also killed in a separate shooting Thursday.

Philadelphia Police said the triple shooting happened at about 6 p.m. on Brill Street near Jackson Street in Frankford.

Investigators said the 16-year-old was brought to Philadelphia's Fire Department Engine 38 in Tacony, more than a mile-and-a-half away from the shooting scene.

Police took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead an hour later.

Two other men, a 35-year-old and a 42-year-old, were also shot.

The 42-year-old is in critical condition, but the 35-year-old is expected to physically recover, according to police.

Another fatal shooting happened less than a half hour later.

Police said a 20-year-old was struck in a separate shooting near Harrowgate Park in Kensington and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to authorities, no one was arrested at the time of the shooting in Kensington, and there was no initial word of any arrest in the triple shooting.
