PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police have released new details about the shooting of a 3-year-old boy in South Philadelphia on Sunday. Investigators now say they have found evidence that makes them think the shooting happened inside a home on South Taney Street, not outside as initially reported.

"Initially we had information that the child was shot ... while walking and it was part of an incidental shooting. The investigation, some of the evidence we've recovered now, point that the child has been shot inside a location there," said Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore.
The boy's mother had told police she was walking with her son near 15th and Taney streets around 5 p.m. Sunday when she heard two gunshots. She said she looked down and realized her son had been shot in the face.
"I'm not going to get into the statements that we took, but it's obvious we took some false information initially and we're looking very closely at everything, right now," Vanore said.
According to initial reports, a good Samaritan jumped in to help.

Mika Outlaw had just parked her car and was taking out groceries when she spotted the mom in a panic. She raced them to the nearest fire station for help.
“I knew I didn’t have enough gas to make it over to the children’s hospital,” she told NBC10. “I knew the fire station was over here, and I knew the best bet would be to get him to this fire station.”
Fire Department personnel transferred the boy to a hospital, where he has been in stable condition.
Police have not made any arrests, and Vanore says they are still investigating who is responsible for the shooting.
