CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A firefighter was injured while responding to a house fire and subsequent collapse in Camden early Wednesday morning.

It’s currently unclear how the firefighter was hurt, or if the incident happened before or after the collapse. Officials on the scene said the injuries are minor.

The fire broke out at a house on Sixth Street, near the intersection of Carl Miller Boulevard. The walls of the home fell over like dominoes as crews hit the building with water.

No one was inside the home when it collapsed, officials said.

Kato, who lives down the street, said the house was recently renovated. He said he’s seen bad fires in the neighborhood, but nothing like this before.

“I’ve never seen it happen. I’ve seen it burn down, but never collapse,” he said.

Sixth Street remains closed at Carl Miller Boulevard.
