NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A new wine and dine series is about to kick off in New Jersey that wineries hope will catch on across the state.
The Uncork & Unwind Fine Wine and Dine series starts May 12 in Cape May. Several wineries throughout the state will be sending their best varieties for a five course meal at Exit Zero’s Lookout restaurant on the waterfront near the Cape May-Lewes ferry.
“We’ve been talking quite a bit, the board of the Garden State Wine Growers, about how to celebrate and elevate the finer wines that New Jersey wine makers are making, and what better way to do that than paired with food,” said Kenna Wuerker, chair of the Garden State Wine Growers Association.
Reservations are open now for dinner on May 12. It’s $100 per person and the main course is steak frites paired with a Cabernet Franc.
Wineries participating that night include Cedar Rose Vineyard, Amalthea Winery, Auburn Road Vineyard, and Hawk Haven Vineyard.
And Wuerker says there’s more where that came from, as they are already working on plans for an event in June at a different location. The goal is to make this a regular event with partnerships between local restaurants and wine makers all over the state to draw attention to the great food and wine in New Jersey, and eventually grow as a must-visit destination for wine tourists.
Reservations can be made online.
