PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A car plowed into an outdoor dining area in Northern Liberties Wednesday morning, though no one suffered serious injuries.

The crash occurred at Cafe La Maude on North Fourth and Reno streets, near Brown Street, just after 11 a.m.

Diners were eating outside when a silver four-door Nissan Maxima lost control and rammed into the outdoor dining structure, which is now debris of splintered wood, glass and plastic.

According to a Philadelphia Fire Department spokesperson, at least two people were transported to a hospital. The total number of people injured is currently unknown, though officials said no one was seriously hurt.

According to an employee, at least eight people were seated at three tables outside when the crash happened.

Lisa Sawyer witnessed paramedics treat patrons after the crash.

"They were moving, they were up they were talking," she said of the diners. "But, you know, it was a very scary situation."

The Nissan Maxima that crashed is still on site. Witnesses said another car down the road fled after the crash. Authorities are searching for that driver and actively investigating the incident.
