Chester County to host voting information town hall by phone

CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Chester County's Department of Voter Services will host a telephone town hall this week to provide voting information for November's general election.

A panel will speak Monday, October 17, on topics like how to register, finding polling places and rules for mailing in ballots. They will also answer questions from callers' submissions.

Karen Barsoum, the county's director of voter services, said voter deadlines will be also be addressed.

"The deadline to register to vote or potentially make updates to your voter registration is October 24," she said, "and the deadline to request an absentee or mail-in ballot is November 1."

Barsoum says the town hall will be conducted by way of telephone, not by video, in order to make the information available to all residents of the county, no matter how skilled they are with technology.

"Not everyone has capabilities to Zoom, or through computers, iPads, so this is a way for everyone to participate purely through phone call," said Barsoum.

Even though the Town Hall is by way of telephone, registration will still need to be done online - so some voters may need to get some help for that.

Participants will have to register through Chester County's website no later than three hours before the 6:30 p.m. meeting.
