COLLEGEVILLE,. Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A coach at Ursinus College is in desperate need of a new kidney, and the Collegeville community is rallying behind him to help find one.

George Trabosh is an assistant basketball and volleyball coach at Ursinus, which is the latest stop on a four-decade coaching and teaching career that has taken him all around the Montgomery County area. For several months he has been on dialysis and has been looking for a kidney donor.

"Presently, I am stage 5 kidney failure,” Trabosh said. “I am a cystic. I have cysts throughout my kidneys. And I'm on dialysis daily."

Each dialysis treatment, he says, is 7 to 8 hours long — every day.

Trabosh is also still dealing with the death of his wife of 42 years earlier this year.

Bobbi Morgan is the head women's basketball coach at Ursinus.

"I've known George for 35 years, and I've coached with him for 35 years. So, everywhere I've gone, he's come. And he's just a really loyal, caring person. He's a great teacher, a great coach, but he's the friend that you want in your corner — anywhere you go."

Anyone whose blood type is O+, who is interested in volunteering to be a potential kidney donor for Trabosh — or for any of the other tens of thousands of people who are in need of a transplant — sign up here.
