PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Health care patients are being warned about a phishing scam targeting users of the medical patient portal MyChart.
Scammers are sending fake emails and text messages designed to steal passwords and personal information.
Some messages promise free gifts or prizes, like a “free first aid kit,” but MyChart said it does not run giveaways.
Local health care networks that use MyChart have issued their own warnings. Penn Medicine said patients should check the sender before clicking anything.
If the phone number or email address looks unfamiliar, don’t click it. Instead, go straight to the MyChart app or the provider’s website to check messages.
