PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Four Philadelphia police officers were injured while arresting a man suspected of cashing fraudulent checks.
It happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday at ACE Checks Cashed, located near Broad Street and Roosevelt Boulevard in Hunting Park.
Police got a call about a man trying to cash a bad check. When they arrived, the clerk told officers that the man had tried to do it before. When the officers tried to question him, Chief Inspector Scott Small said he got violent.
“When the officers approached him and went to investigate him, he immediately started to resist arrest and assault the police officers. He actually pushed one of the officers down,” he said.
Small said the man tried to run away and smashed through the front window of the store.
Four officers were injured while arresting the man. One had to get stitches in his head after being pushed out of the window.
All four officers have been treated and released from the hospital.
