We have sufficiently slowed the spread of COVID-19, but there is always going to be some level of risk, so we thought this would be a good time to check in on the latest treatments. "Medical professionals aren't necessarily magicians. We don't have all the answers in front of us, but we're doing our best,” says Dr. Stephen Pagkalinawan, assistant professor at Drexel University’s College of Medicine. “And I think COVID is a story of how we were able to get to a good treatment after a year and a half, two years, of all this craziness."
Pagkalinawan joins In Depth to tell us about the treatments that are available now — both for mild cases and for people at a higher risk level — how they work, and how far the medicine has advanced since the pandemic began.
