PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of the biggest barriers to exercising is insufficient time. A new study looked at the lives of surgeons and found that almost half of them do not meet the basic guidelines for exercise and strength training.
Surgeons are far from alone. Demands of the workplace make it difficult for many people to exercise. Experts from Stanford have suggested a plan for surgeons to help them squeeze in exercise, which could also be applied to anyone.
A key component is to think small and have a plan. Walk whenever possible and choose to take the stairs. Keep a yoga mat or light weights in the office or work room for that workout on the run. Avoid taking an all-or-nothing approach. And, keep a record of what you do each day.
Praise your efforts, even if they are small steps.
