Crews battle overnight fire that damages 2 homes in Pottstown
NBC 10

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — More than 100 firefighters in Montgomery County spent hours Saturday night battling a fire that tore through two homes in Pottstown.

Officials said the fire started around 9 p.m. on Beech Street near Johnson Avenue, just over a block from Memorial Park.

Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Yerger told NBC10 that when crews arrived, the fire had already spread to two homes.

He also said the hoarding conditions in one of the homes made it hard for crews to get to work.

"We had several hot spots throughout the building that we could not get to. There were blocked doorways, and there were blocked windows," said Yerger. "There were a lot of challenges getting into the building, and lots of spaces where fire was hiding that we could not get to."

It’s unclear whether all residents of the two homes have been accounted for.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
