BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Crews have recovered the body of a Tyler State Park resource ranger who went missing Friday when his kayak capsized in the Neshaminy Creek.

Alec Campbell, 38, of Delaware County, was in a kayak around 12:30 p.m. that day when it overturned, sweeping him downstream.

EMS crews from 10 municipal and state agencies rushed to the scene to begin a frantic search — several rescue boats were deployed, and divers hit the water.

Crews found his body Sunday after a three-day search. The Bucks County coroner will determine the exact cause of death.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Alec Campbell, a dedicated member of our Pennsylvania state park staff,” said Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn.

Gov. Josh Shapiro ordered all commonwealth facilities to lower their flags to half staff Tuesday in Campbell’s honor.

The park will remain closed until Tuesday.
