PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities are investigating after a group of people broke up an attack on a man in Center City Sunday night.
Officers were called to 15th Street and JFK Boulevard, near LOVE Park, just after 9 p.m. for a report of someone with a weapon.
Police said a suspect struck a 50-year-old man several times in the back of the head with a sharp object. Then, about a dozen other people jumped in, punching and kicking the suspect until he fell to the ground.
The suspect took off. Police are working to identify him.
Another man — a 37-year-old — was also injured in the melee.
Both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.
