PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — COVID-19 cases continue a steady decline in the Keystone State.
Across Pennsylvania, there were almost 3,000 fewer new cases in the seven-day period that ended Friday than there were the week before. The seven-day average is 992, under 1,000, for the first time since early October.
The statewide COVID-19 positivity rate is 4.5%, down from 9.6% a month ago and reaching the goal of under 5%.
While the total number of tests are down from the winter and spring peaks, there are still more being done now than in the fall, and the positivity rate for each of the southeastern Pennsylvania counties is under 5%.
Delaware County has a seven-day daily average of 37 cases, compared to 240 per day last month. Its positivity rate is down to 2.7%. A month ago, it was just under 9%.
Chester County's positivity rate dropped to 2.9%. The seven-day average of new cases dropped to 26 per day, down from over 200 per day last month.
Bucks County's positivity rate fell to 3.4% while average daily cases dropped to 37 per day, about half of what it was last week, and a fraction of the spring high of 278 per day.
Montgomery County's positivity rate is down to 3%. The seven-day daily average of new cases is down to 42. That's down from 214 a month ago.
