PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of three men linked to the 2020 shooting death of a 7-year-old boy in West Philadelphia has pleaded guilty as part of a negotiated deal with prosecutors.
Damar Bashier Jones, 30, has been in prison since he was arrested three years ago in connection with the death of 7-year-old Zamar Jones and will likely get out soon as part of the deal.
The two are not related.
Damar pleaded guilty to three gun charges in exchange for three to six years in prison. He is not believed to be the one who fired the shot that killed the boy.

Prosecutors say, in August of 2020, Christopher Linder drove down Simpson Street, pulled out a gun and fired at Michael Banks. Banks then pulled out a gun and fired back. Jones also fired the weapon after Banks dropped it.
Zamar was playing on his porch when he was struck in the head by a bullet fired by Banks. He died two days later.
Prosecutors say Damar sent a letter to the boy's family expressing remorse.
