PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An 18-year-old was shot and killed in Graduate Hospital as others — including a man pushing a child in a stroller — ran for their lives from the gunfire.

It happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday at 17th and Christian streets, near the YMCA.

Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace said three gunmen jumped out of a gray SUV, possibly a Dodge Durango, and started shooting at a group of about five other people.

“It does appear that one of those people in that group was some sort of a counselor,” he said, “so it very well may be that the individual was in some sort of a youth group possibly when the shooting occurred.”

He said it looked like the teen was targeted. He was hit multiple times in the legs and head. He was transported to the hospital, where he died shortly thereafter.

Police identified the victim as 18-year-old Sadiq Dove of Grays Ferry.

Police have not made any arrests. They are looking through surveillance video.

The SUV had black rims and tinted windows. Authorities say there are four suspects, including the driver of the car.

The three gunmen are between the ages of 18 and 25. Two were armed with handguns and one with a rifle. One of the gunmen was also wearing yellow kitchen gloves.
