PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Newark, Delaware high school student has been arrested for allegedly bringing a loaded handgun to school.
Delaware State Police said the 17-year-old Glasgow High School student was involved in a fight Monday afternoon in a school hallway. School officials recovered a small amount of marijuana and the handgun in his backpack.
The teen was arrested and taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries suffered in the fight.
He was then arraigned, then taken to the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families. Bail was set at $87,000. The teen faces several felony firearms possession charges and a marijuana possession charge.
Police haven't said if anyone else was injured in the fight.
