PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police arrested two people after a delivery driver was shot in the hand in Northern Liberties Tuesday night.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. near Sixth and Spring Garden streets.
Police said the 31-year-old driver got into a verbal altercation with a teenager and a woman. The fight escalated, and police said the driver was struck in the back of the head with an unknown object.
While running back to his car, the driver told police he saw a man firing a gun at him.
Officials said several bullets hit the driver’s car, and one hit him in the hand.
He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The man and woman were taken into custody. Charges are pending.
This is at least the third shooting involving a delivery driver this summer. Earlier this month, a DoorDash driver was shot and killed in Southwest Philadelphia. In June, police said a driver was targeted and killed in the Northeast.
