DEPTFORD TWP., N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A 17-year-old Deptford High School student was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly stabbing another student on a bus.
Officials in Deptford Township say there was a fight between two girls after school Tuesday on a bus near Ironwood Drive and Village Boulevard.
Police were called to the scene as one student suffered superficial cuts. After an investigation, a 17-year-old girl was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening and later released.
In a letter to parents, Superintendent Kevin Kanaus made reference to the fight but didn’t provide many details, saying both students have been removed from school, pending an investigation, and counselors are available to speak with students who feel may be experiencing difficulties.
