NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A Vineland woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run earlier this month.

Prosecutors say 26-year-old Destiny Esquilin was behind the wheel of a silver 2021 Honda Civic that struck 58-year-old John DeMarco as he walked along Fries Mill Road in Washington Township on Nov. 4 around 8 p.m.

They say she then fled the scene. Demarco was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

Police say the incident that evening was captured on surveillance cameras and they turned to the public for tips.

A tipster led them to Esquilin’s car this week. Detectives interviewed her and she was later charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
